François Varillon,(1905 Lyon -1978 Chatelard) Jesuita y teólogo francés. Maestro y capellán de estudiantes de secundaria en los años 30, después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial pasa a ser capellán de la Asociación Católica de la Juventud Francesa. Es uno de los comentaristas más importantes de la literatura francesa contemporánea, en particular de Paul Claudel. Sus obras sobre el sufrimiento y la humildad de Dios son lo que Jean-Francois Sixa describió como un “avance teológico”. En 1974 recibe el Gran Premio Católico de Literatura.
