Pierpaolo Donati (Budrio , 1946) es un sociólogo y filósofo italiano. Profesor ordinario de Sociología en la Facultad de Ciencias Políticas de la Universidad de Bolonia, es también director del CEPOSS (Centro de Estudio de Política Social y de Sociología Sanitaria) en la misma universidad.
En 1994 recibió el reconocimiento de la ONU como miembro distinguido durante el Año Internacional de la Familia. Asimismo, el Premio Capri San Michele por el libro "Pensamiento Social Cristiano y Sociedad Postmoderna" (Ave, Roma, 1997); el Premio de San Benito para la promoción de la vida y la familia en Europa, IX edición; y el Premio Mario Macchi, otorgado por la Asociación Nacional de Escuelas Paternas Católicas (AGESC) para actividades sociales y culturales de gran interés innovador.
Donati es Doctor Honoris Causa del Pontificio Instituto Juan Pablo II para el Matrimonio y la Familia, Pontificia Universidad Lateranense.
